Friendship Report: Lego!

Dear Readers,

This week I finally got around to watching The Lego Movie, a film that was sadly dwarfed by Frozen when it came out in cinema. Anyway,I found this film to be so good, I had to watch it twice, first on Wednesday, and then just before posting this. Like many films aimed at a younger audience, it had an underlying message, one all of us bronies should know.

The primary message in the film is that you should express yourself and be your own person, which is all well and good, but it then branches out to explain the importance of working in a team, and following the instructions. Both of these things are important, you just have to know which one to follow at which time.

The first part of that message is about expressing yourself, something which us bronies may often get bullied for, or at least laughed at because of. If that is the case, you just have to remember that you're not the idiot for expressing yourself, that person is the idiot for following all the other sheep and being something idiots call "normal."

You have to remember that normality is in the eye of the beholder, meaning that what you conceive as normal, others will conceive as weird, and vice versa. In that I'm not saying it's bad to be normal, it's perfectly okay to like the popular things that about 90% of the people you know like. You don't have to force yourself to be different from the crowd, unless of course you're a hipster, which is what I hear they do.

Unfortunately, there are times when you shouldn't just express yourself, and if you do express yourself at those times you could put yourself in quite a bit of trouble. I know those times are boring, and believe me, I've gotten myself in trouble for being me at the wrong moment. In case you aren't sure when not to go overboard with expressing yourself (most places give some leeway), it'd be places such as work or school.

Even outside of those places there are somethings you shouldn't do to express yourself, such as sacrificing orphans to Satan; which I supposedly do because my favourite book is Frankenstein. I personally don't see the connection. That aside, you have been warned, don't just express yourself willy-nilly, it can make things very difficult for you.

I know this is all confusing, and I get the feeling your wondering just how it's possible for one idiot to write up so much rubbish every Friday. The simple truth of that is that I took a course in writing up nonsense, BTEC Level 3 Business Studies, I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to waste two years learning how to fill up space on a blank page.

If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend you watch The Lego Movie, and also Frozen, they're both good films, and maybe you can tell me what you learned from either film in the comments below.
